I grew up on the Georgia coast and went to McIntosh County Academy. While in high school, I was your typical band nerd. I played percussion, mostly keyboards and loved it. I graduated, left the small town for Athens (aka "the big city"), and went to the University of Georgia.
I graduated from UGA with a Bachelor's in Science Education and a minor in Spanish. My content area is Chemistry, and yes I do love Chemistry. As I said earlier, I am a nerd that way. During my time at UGA, I enjoyed going to various sporting events, like football games and gymnastics meets. I was also a member of a few clubs at UGA, and really enjoyed the college experience I had.
I still live in Athens, and plan to stay in the area for as long as possible, which is why I started looking for teaching positions in the area. I have been teaching at JCCHS since March 2015, and in that time have taught mostly Chemistry. I currently teach the Regular, Honors, and AP Chemistry courses.
I have certification in Chemistry Education, General Science Education, Gifted Education, AP Chemistry, and IB Chemistry. I plan to persue a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology in the future, as well as ESOL certification. I am also working toward becoming fluent in Spanish.
I enjoy reading, that is the major things I do in my spare time. I also enjoy being in nature, although I am not fond of the beach (because of a severe shellfish and fish allergy). I LOVE the mountains, and enjoy hiking, camping, and climbing. When possible, on weekends and breaks, I run away to the woods and love it!
I am very excited to begin a new school year and look forward to working together!
